Terms and conditions.

The terms that apply when you book a Triton Sea School course. Read them before you book. If anything is unclear, ask us first.

Last updated: August 2026

1. Who you are contracting with

Triton Sea School sets the standards, trains the instructors and issues the certificates. Courses are delivered by licensed centres, which are separate businesses. When you book a course, your contract for that course is with the centre delivering it. Your certificate is issued by Triton Sea School.

2. Booking and payment

  • A place is confirmed when payment or the agreed deposit has been received and we have sent you a written confirmation.
  • Course prices are set by each centre. The price you are quoted at booking is the price that applies.
  • Student materials and online learning are included in the course price.
  • Places are limited to six students per instructor, eight on a Sea Quest experience.

3. Cancellation by you

  • Cancel more than [[14]] days before the first session: full refund less any payment processing fee.
  • Cancel between [[14]] and [[3]] days before: [[50]]% refund, or a free transfer to another date.
  • Cancel less than [[3]] days before, or not turning up: no refund. We will always try to transfer you to another date where we can.
  • Cancellations must be sent in writing to admin@tritonseaschool.com or to your centre.

4. Cancellation by us, and the weather

We teach in the sea. If the instructor judges that conditions are not safe or not suitable for teaching, the session will be moved to another site, rescheduled, or run in confined water instead. That decision belongs to the instructor in the water and is final.

If we cancel a course outright and cannot offer you an alternative date that works, you get a full refund. We are not responsible for your travel, accommodation or other costs arising from a cancellation, so please do not book non refundable travel around a single course date.

5. Medical fitness

  • Every student must complete a medical declaration before entering the water. This is not optional.
  • Declarations must be answered honestly. If a declaration is incomplete or inaccurate, we may refuse training with no refund.
  • Some answers require written clearance from a doctor before training can start. Allow time for this.
  • Tell your instructor about any change in your health between booking and the course.

6. Students under 18

  • A parent or guardian must complete the booking, the medical declaration and the liability release.
  • Minimum ages are stated for each level and are not negotiable.
  • For Sea Quest with young children, a parent or guardian is required in the water.

7. Conduct and safety

Students must follow instructions from the instructor at all times. We may end a student’s participation, with no refund, where behaviour puts that student, another student or an instructor at risk, or where a student is under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

8. Passing, failing and retakes

  • Booking a course buys you the training. It does not buy you the certificate.
  • A certificate is issued only when the student has met every requirement for that level, as assessed by the instructor.
  • Retakes are unlimited. A centre may charge up to one third of the course price for each additional day required.
  • Students progress as soon as they meet the requirements. There is no minimum waiting time between levels.

9. Certificates

  • Certificates do not expire. After one year, a certified student may take a free refresh test at any Triton Sea School centre.
  • Certificate details can be checked by anyone with the certificate number on our verification page.
  • Triton Sea School certifications are our own. They are not a substitute for a swimming, diving or lifeguard qualification issued by another body.
  • We may withdraw a certificate that was issued in error or obtained dishonestly.

10. Equipment

Equipment is provided for use during the course and remains ours. You are responsible for returning it in the condition you received it, allowing for normal wear. Loss or deliberate damage may be charged for.

11. Risk

Training in open water carries inherent risk that cannot be eliminated. We manage that risk through instructor ratios, site selection, conditions assessment, medical screening and a defined syllabus. By booking you accept that risk and confirm you have read the liability release. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

12. Photography

We sometimes photograph or film sessions for teaching and promotion. You can decline at booking or at any time, in writing, and we will not use images of you or your child.

13. Your data

How we handle personal and medical information is set out in our privacy policy.

14. Complaints

Raise it with your centre first. If it is not resolved, email admin@tritonseaschool.com with the centre, the dates and what happened. We take complaints about safety and about certification standards seriously, and a centre can be suspended for a breach.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Cyprus, and the courts of Cyprus have jurisdiction, unless the law of your country of residence gives you rights that cannot be excluded.

16. Changes

We may update these terms. The version that applies to your booking is the version published on the day you booked.
